Welcome to First Friday at SpiritWorks (Friday, August 5, 2011)
When I explored making nests this month, I wasn’t sure at first what to place inside them. It was only discovering the rocks I’d saved from hikes from as far as the Cornwall coast and as close as Umstead Park, that I realized they’d be perfect. They remind me that the small stones among our experiences can be the stuff of new awareness. Rumi the 13th century Sufi mystic asked, “If you’re irritated by every rub, how will you be polished?” By letting the pebbles that make us stumble on our path be our guides and teachers, we hatch what it is that wants to grow and express through us.
How do we shift from a place of fear and annoyance to one of curiosity and even transformation? A powerful tool is using intention to shape our thoughts. Since our brains can not distinguish between our mental tapes and what is happening in real time, it sends messages to our bodies as if each worry, dream, and puzzling are real. All is poised to do our bidding. If we think of everything as energy, our thoughts create a vibration that moves in a way that attracts the objects of our focus.
Setting Intention
- Always use present tense.
- Use a straightforward statement, avoiding the word “want”, which casts us forever in seeking mode!
- Gratitude is key. Always start by making peace with where you are, searching out the gifts of learning and healing. Release blame and guilt so you can move through your experiences, harvesting the wisdom.
Examples:
“I choose activities, thoughts and food that enhance my happiness and health.”
“I create peace inside and out.”
“I love myself unconditionally, offering myself compassion and forgiveness.”
“I notice and receive guidance from the universe, recognizing it through the way I feel loved and supported.”
“I trust the synchronicities that I attract as signs that I am in alignment with my soul’s purpose.”
My definition of grace is discovering how every experience is part of our healing and evolution.
Drop by and let me know what’s hatching in your life!
